HEALTHCARE

"Transforming lives with free and compassionate healthcare."

Why Healthcare

With a population exceeding 1.4 billion, ensuring last-mile healthcare delivery in India presents a formidable challenge. The country’s vast geospatial diversity exacerbates issues of accessibility, particularly in remote and difficult-to-reach terrains. Over 65% of the population resides in rural areas, yet they remain underserved by the existing healthcare infrastructure, which is disproportionately concentrated in urban centers. Among urban populations, particularly slum dwellers, daily survival takes precedence over healthcare needs, further limiting their engagement with available health services. This inequitable distribution, combined with a widespread lack of awareness, hampers the utilization of healthcare resources, creating significant barriers to achieving comprehensive health coverage.

Addressing these systemic gaps is critical to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and realizing the Government of India’s vision for Ayushman Bharat. By improving access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural and marginalized communities, and enhancing the awareness and uptake of services, we can move closer to the goal of a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system. These efforts are essential to fostering a healthier, more resilient population and ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of national health objectives.

What We Do-

St. George’s Academy Society’s holistic, community-focused health initiative delivers essential primary healthcare services directly to underserved populations in both rural and urban areas across India. Recognizing the deep-rooted challenges of accessibility, availability, and affordability in the healthcare sector, our program adopts a dual-pronged approach that addresses both curative and preventive healthcare needs.

By bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of marginalized communities, we aim to fill critical gaps in service delivery, ensuring that even the most vulnerable have access to quality medical care. Our focus extends beyond treatment to proactive measures, empowering communities through health education and preventive care, ultimately fostering long-term health resilience. This approach not only addresses immediate healthcare concerns but also contributes to building sustainable healthcare systems within these underserved areas, ensuring continuity and equity in care.

Our Support Measures

Bridging healthcare gaps by deploying fully-equipped Mobile Healthcare Units, staffed with skilled doctors and paramedics, delivering comprehensive OPD services, advanced point-of-care diagnostics, and essential medications to underserved populations.

Facilitating access to specialized healthcare for individuals in remote rural areas by connecting them with doctors from urban health centers via e-Health Kiosks and Telemedicine Centres, supported by trained paramedic staff.

Establishing accessible, fixed healthcare centers in remote rural communities, offering OPD services, medications, point-of-care diagnostics, and counseling, with a dedicated emphasis on physiotherapy services.

Expanding the reach and capacity of Government Health Centres through the integration of telemedicine at sub-centres, training of frontline workers, and upgrading Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

Delivering targeted, need-based healthcare services to specific communities through standalone health camps, featuring specialized doctors, point-of-care diagnostics, and, when necessary, surgical facilities.
